31 May we had so much fun at Snow World!
The Person’s car is still in George so he’s taking the train to us not the weekends which means we’re figuring out which trains are closest etc, it also means we’ve realised that rail in SA needs some SERIOUS upgrades. But there is a station right across from Grand West Casino so on Friday we met him there and then stayed and frolicked around Snow World!
Well not actual snow cause that would be hard but it’s a pretty close second and there’s an ice bar, like literally a bar made from ice! A little alpine village for the parents to sit in and chill and have a drink, a snack bar. Place to buy photos (because it’s low light in there and even with a tripod getting good shots is a pain in the asshole unless you have the right equipment which I obviously didn’t have with me).
They have a section on extinct mammals as well, that damn chicken dinosaur nearly didn’t make it through the night when I was there, most annoying sound hahaha. There’s un upstairs lounge, snow boarding and tube sliding. Also lots of other little snow slides for the younger and less daring.
And if that doesn’t appeal, the staff are AMAZING! Like seriously, they’ve been there a while already and you’d think that by now they’d probably be so over what they’re doing and cold but they were fantastic. The one guy personally went on the “scary” slide with Fysh to prove it wasn’t that scary and when we sat having a beer Fysh made friends with the guys in the “cold room” and they entertained him. I’m not saying go there and leave your kids but am giving the staff the nod of approval, you guys deserve it. Well done.
We ended up spending two hours there and had a sulky teary child when we told him it’s time to go. It’s an absolute blast even for the adults (yes we did the slides as well!) So if you’re in the area grab yourself some tickets before they pack up and leave and go check it out!
