Last year I got a bee in my bonnet and during a manic episode somehow decided that a 365 project would be a fantastic idea.  I was going to do a drawing every day for the year. At first the idea was to have a theme for the week and do each day as a different style of the art I do. But a few days in I was having so much fun illustrating and finding creative ways to insert Charlie into the drawings that it sort of stuck...

In December I shattered a wisdom tooth somehow, the second one (broke the other one about two years ago but it never gave me hassle) but this one has been hell as it left a nerve exposed. At first I thought it was just earache so it took me a week and a half before I realised it was actually my tooth and headed to the dentist.  Private dentists are really costly and I simply didn't have the finances so I went to our clinic to make an appointment....

I am not really a beach person. I am more a river in a forest sort of person mainly because the forest is pretty and green and has shade which means I can hide from the sun that my body is allergic to. I do love the beach but the sand gets everywhere and the sun...

It's mid month January and I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one raiding the sofa for a few coins. I raided the kitchen to see what I had to work with and found a lone butternut, an onion and pie crust so...

Often my brain frustrates me so much. Have you even had that moment when something feels really familiar and then it triggers an old memory that you can't fully grasp but it nags and nags and nags and you just have to figure it out? The narration of the new Netflix lemony snickets series did that for me today and I ended up spending an hour trying to figure out what the fuck that nagging was...

It's Friday the 13th and I know a lot of people think it's bad luck or whatever. To me it's another day, although I'll admit that this morning did actually start off crappy though, my housemate had to put his 18 year old cat down today as he had a stroke and can't walk anymore. It's horrible, he rescued Michael when he was in a car accident and he was about 3 (the cat). Michael is/was 18 this year so it's really crappy :( Anyway, I realised that although...

I forgot to get bread yesterday and Fysh has this thing about his toast ever since we got a toaster for xmas so he was a little miff when he realised we're out. But I am not putting on pants just to go to the shop and buy a loaf of bread so I poked around in the cupboard and found some flour. I also found a beer that The Person left when he went home so I thought screw it I'm making beer bread! It also happens...

I thoroughly enjoy the bookswaps I hosted last year but think I'm going to keep them to twice a year simply because they are so much admin and I don't make anything for my time and effort. BUT I've been itching to do a local craft swap for a while. I've done 4 international ones but in all honesty the postage usually ends up costing so damn much you can't really have fun with the package. A 1kg package to England cost me R450 and took 2 months to...

My post on why I homeschool seems to have weeded a few people out of my timeline. I've been called childish and selfish for choosing to homeschool, that I had clearly not done any research because I don't argue well and that Fysh will end up hating me for ruining his life. I was not homeschooled. I attended normal government schools and did a two year stint in a private all girls school. I was subject to all the standardised tests and bullied by teachers and peers alike for my awkwardness...

I often get asked why I homeschool, and I'm often told my child isn't getting the right opportunities and that I'm making him anti social as he's not able to socialise enough. Why I argue this : firstly, that sort of thinking means that being in a school clearly did nothing for YOUR social skills else you wouldn't judge me like that or demean what I'm doing. Secondly my child is always friendly and polite. He knows all the people at our local spar and they all love him so...
