My dad posted this on FB and apparently it was written by Thor Harris from Monofonuspress.com but it's so good I can't not share. It's so damn honest, blunt and to the point. Something I think we need to print out and keep somewhere we can see often as a bloody good reminder. Also, I'm wondering if this guy might be one of my dad's offspring or past students cause he sounds like a carbon copy of the sailor I grew up with. Or maybe I'm just such a hippy I...

Fysh can only have dairy in small amounts and also not after lunch but he's been asking for pancakes and seeing as my car died (battery) and we couldn't get to the shop to get stuff for dinner I dug around and found we have everything but milk for the pancakes. So I altered the recipe a bit and VOILA! Tasty, fluffy pancakes. (If you're american, I'm talking about crepes...

Fysh caught a bug earlier in the week that according to the Cape Town gov website is apparently going around (how do we the hermits catch a bug?!) and we all know how lovely it is to clean up someone else's vomit...

Every year in January since Typo opened up by us I mission and buy one of their cute A6 diaries when they go on the 50% sale. This year they didn't have that sale and so I waited a little longer but they never had it and at some point I sort of forgot about it and decided to try the whole phone calendar thing instead. Seems I am a very complicated and hypocritical person (not that we didn't know this before) and even though I'm all for saving...

I have been feeling like cookies for a while now so though screw it let's make some! Dug out a recipe I got from my great grandma :) You'll need: 250g butter 150g sugar 5ml Vanilla Essence 1 can condensed milk 4 x 250 ml  Cake Flour 10ml Baking Powder Cream butter and sugar until soft and creamy, beat in vanilla essence and condensed milk. Gradually add sifted flour and baking powder until mixture is a firm but workable dough. If mixture is very stiff do not add all the flour. Bake at...

All these fucking collectable shit things. I will give it to checkers though, of the "crazes" they definitely win at coolest because seriously, they make me feel like the BFG and a kid again and shop shop  is FUN. I was pretty stoked when I saw the little shop things thinking yay for a fun one. BUT a trip to the shops today changed my mind. 1) I went out of my way to go to checkers for a loaf of bread instead of popping into the spar 2 min away....

Or for the fun of it anyway ;)  I haven't been bowling since, shit I don't know. Maybe since I was about Fysh's age and running around Kolmanskop sneaking into the bowling alley. And then it was once or twice before we got caught (bowling alley echoes).  We were supposed to go to Ratanga Junction, The Person had never been and we always mean to but those prices put us off. They're having a "fees have fallen" special to celebrate 17 years of being open (fuck that makes me feel...

I don't know if you know this (I didn't but thanks to Padfoot I do now) but Numetro does this thing they call "girls night out" were tickets are R65 (snacks not included) and you get to see a fantastic chick flick (that is usually a pre-screaning) where no men are allowed! And they do a whole set up with free pizza, magazines, port, and stalls with things like a make up touch up stand, honey jewellery etc. then to make it better before the movie starts they do...

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]You know, it's really funny. During April when I couldn't post cause I was doing the giveaways I had SO much I wanted to say and blog but couldn't interrupt the flow. But since being on a hiatus for a week on our road trip I've sort of come back with fokkol to say. Shit has been so boring around here and yet I've busy all the time. But busy with shit that's not really interesting to write about. All I do at the moment is crochet, cook...

My mama turned the big FIVE OH on Saturday and we celebrated it with a surprise party at the pottery studio in Melkbosstrand that her friend owns :) It's really a gem of a spot. We used to drive all the way to houtbay to paint pottery which was great and all that but it meant that you had to drive all the way there again 2 weeks later to go and fetch your stuff. Not so fun. Melkbosstrand is 14km from me so it's a much better option. Mel...
