You know how sometimes you're craving a cupcake but you really don't want to make an entire batch because if you do you know you'll have to eat them all because shame man you can't neglect them...

We ended up cancelling Fysh's party and said those who want to join are welcome to come join us at the waterfront and I arranged that Fysh's best friend comes with. Surprise surprise, or maybe not, everyone bailed.  But The Person, Fysh and I had the best damn day regardless and more so Fysh had an epic time and had fun playing with the random kids.  We started with bubble tea, his favourite! and a bretzel. So yummy. I had a pina colada flavored slushy from the ice tea place...

So a while back I was looking for pictures of long hair with undercut cause in summer my hair is a killer and thought maybe it'd be a good idea but I was worried that having bright hair and an undercut would be overkill but I found this epic photo which to me proved it so won't be.  Well Fysh saw this and decided screw mom, HE wants his hair like this. Length and all. So if course I said that if that's what he wants I'm totes okay...

A while back Fysh and I were contacted and asked if we'd be willing to take part in a fun little challenge set up by GWK, one where we take a traditional South African recipe and give it our own unique twist. If you follow me on Instagram <cupcakemummy> you'll be seeing in our stories some of the awesome products Nature's Farm has sent us as well as what we've done with some of them. From using the cookies to make cookie and cream frozen yogurt to making one...

We sent out invitations for Fysh's birthday a while back. 45 invitations sent. Because the more the merrier and we love throwing parties so go all out come birthday. (His birthday anyway, I've had too many shitty birthdays people have forgotten.) Of the 45 only 14 RSVP'd and then when I asked people to please confirm attendance because we personalise the take home bags and I need to know food wise how to care only 3 people responded.  THREE fucking people out of 45 were civilised enough to respond....

As you can see my mama has this huge granadilla creeper all along the side of the garage and every year it produces so many fruits she gives a lot away.  Yesterday she and Fysh decided to make use of some of them and made an old South African koek resep saved from my great grams days. It's originally written in Afrikaans so I'll translate it for you. Because a slice was saved for me and it is seriously worth sharing. Nom  You'll need for the cake itself   4 extra large...

Facebook memories reminded me that 9 years ago I was in Germany partying in the forest and having no damn care in the world. My biggest problem was deciding what book to read in the miniscule book store with their pathetic English section and which gellato to try next and how to survive work with no sleep because you partied till dawn in heels higher than your standards.  Now I worry about how I'm going to pay my electricity bill and where in going to get the cash to...

At 14:14 on August 6th 2009 a new soul came into the world and he took over my life like a hurricane through a trailer park, turning it upside down and throwing plans in every direction.  Another thing affected is friendships, storms are great for setting who will stick with you through it. Many come and go but those that stay...

We had the most epic press drop full of farm goodness. There was cake flour and brown flour and really epic cookies and of course PASTA! I know that we shouldn't eat pasta. Or at least in moderation but we are a pasta household as it's cost effective and filling and you can make SO many different dishes out of it. The Nature's Farm pasta (and other goods) are available at pnp and with their gorgeous packaging you really can't miss them, they do stand out (in a good way)....
