07 Jan I designed a pattern!!!
Mid 2014 I taught myself to crochet a granny square and I ended up making on the size of a double bed for The Person as an xmas gift but I got bored with the whole granny square thing and winter 2015 I decided it was time to pick up the hobby again but take it up a notch. And so I taught myself to read a pattern. It was a whole lot easier than I thought it was going to be, kinda like learning a new language really but one that’s pretty short and easy. I still have to youtube certain terms or stitches every now and then but I think I’ve pretty much aced it.
I decided to take it one step further. This year I am determined to write my own patterns. Big leap I know.
I attempted a bootie pattern but I think the dumb thing I did was try make it for a baby when I don’t even have a baby around to use as a model so that failed, decided not to give up and rather try again. I saw a pattern by The Velvet Acorn back before I started crocheting for a really cute little hooded cowl and I so badly wanted one but of course the ability wasn’t in my arsenal back then. It is now but no matter how many times I go to the bank they just can’t seem to sort out the damned MasterCard function on my card so I am still stuck without the ability to purchase anything online. And tada… my second attempt at making up a pattern.
I did it!!!
Now I just need to actually turn my scribbles into a proper pattern so that I can list it for sale. A little moola extra definitely never hurt. Am so damn in love with it! (Yes the ears need repositioning I know)
I already have an order for a bear one and a wolf one for this month and a bunny one for March (yay!) at the moment am pricing them at R500 but they’ll go up next month. So if you want one book now.
I need to see about setting up an easy store but not sure how that works being a Saffa so if you have any notes and advice on that please share. Would really appreciate it x
